Garden City, Kan. (Western Kansas News) – Garden City struggled to manufacture runs Tuesday afternoon in the first of a pivotal three-game series for the Lady Buffs against WAC foe in Great Bend. Pitching was the name of this game, and for one of the few times this season, Garden City didn’t have any answers.
DeShawnna Bryant grounded out scoring a run in the first inning to make it a 1-0 game for Great Bend, but the score remained a tight one run advantage until the bottom of the 6th when the Lady Panthers hammered home four more runs to take a 5-0 advantage.
The bats were cold for the Lady Buffs, as they recorded only one hit across 23 at-bats. Only two batters for Garden City were walked and eleven were struck out in the process. Yasmin Angeles was the only Buffalo to record a hit throughout the affair. On the other side, Great Bend created 5 runs across 9 hits with 4 RBIs and only 4 strikeouts through 30 at-bats.
