Goodland wins GWAC golf title; Scott City’s Rumford GWAC Golfer of the Year

Colby, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The third and final part of the Great West Activities Conference golf swing took place on Monday at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Colby in the GWAC golf tournament

Goodland would win the GWAC golf meet, and secured the league title, their first since 2019. The Cowboys would shoot a team score of 337, 15 shots better than runner-up Scott City, while Colby came in third.

Jackson Rumford from Scott City would rally to win the league meet as well as earn the top spot in GWAC play, with the Ulysses and Scott City tournaments used toward the points standings. On Monday, he shot a round of 79, one shot better than Goodland’s Trent Shelton. In the overall standings, he was tied with Holcomb’s Luke Thyne, but won the tiebreaker by one stroke. Thyne would place second overall in the GWAC standings, while Colby’s Kaleb Dixon was third.

Next Monday, Hugoton and Ulysses will be at McPherson for Class 4A Regional golf, while Goodland will host a Class 3A regional, with Cimarron, Colby, Goodland, Holcomb and Scott City competing in that regional.
