Class 6A: Powers takes 300M Hurlde title; Dodge City’s Williams medals in hurldes

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The two area Class 6A schools faced some good competition over Friday and Saturday at the KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Starting with the boys side, Dodge City would finish in 10th place as a team, led by sophomore Elliott Williams’ performances in the hurdles, He would place fourth in the 110M High Hurldes, and come back Saturday afternoon with a second place finish in the 300M Intermediate Hurldles. Garden City finished 23rd. Sophomore Ryder Carr took home third place in the 200M Dash.Olathe West would take the team title, while Olathe North was second and Mill Valley was third.

For the girls, Garden City had a good showing, with an 11th place finish. They were highlighted by junior ThayLee Powers, who broke her own school record with a championship run in the 300M Low Hurdles in a time of 44.31. Dodge City would place 29th, with two up on the awards stand in the 100M High Hurdles, as Emma Bell was seventh and Lily Pfaff placed eighth.
