Class 4A: Ulysses boys place 4th; Tiger boys pick up three event wins

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a good day for the area athletes over the two days at the State Track & Field Championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

The Ulysses Tiger Boys had one of their best showings in recent years, as they place fourth as a team, with several good finishes. Gaige McGaughey of Ulysses was the 200M Champion, while the 4x100M Relay would take the title and senior Aden Alvarado was a champion in the Long Jump on Friday. For Hugoton, they would place 28th, as freshman Adrian Adigun placed sixth in the Triple Jump. Andale would repeat as team champions, while Buhler was second and Chanute was third, just 2.5 points ahead of Ulysses.

On the girls side, the Ulysses Girls placed 25th with two fifth place finishes. The first came from their 4x100M Relay team that broke their own school record, and sophomore Aja Ysac was fifth in the 200M Dash. Andale would win the team title, Eudora was second and Clearwater came in third place.
