Incident near Finney County Law Enforcement Center has suspect arrested

Garden City, Kan.–An incident that included gunfire after a suspect struck a pedestrian near the Finney County Law enforcement Center.

On Thursday, an incident occurred near the Finney County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) that included gunfire by a Finney County Sheriff’s Deputy. Preliminary investigation indicates that a Garden City man struck a pedestrian with his vehicle in the parking lot of the LEC and began to flee. The deputy attempted to make contact with the man, during which, the deputy discharged his firearm. The suspect fled the scene, but was ultimately taken into custody.

Further investigation is being conducted by the Garden City Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
