GCPD make arrests on drug possession, drag racing

Garden City, Kan.–Garden City Police Officers and their K-9 partners have continued proactive efforts to remove criminals, drugs, and reckless drivers from the streets.

At around 4 a.m. Tuesday, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of W. Mary Street and made contact with 33-year-old Kevin Coast. Further investigation revealed Coast had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on him, and he was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference LEO, and No Proof of Insurance.

A second case took place just before midnight Monday night, when Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. 4th Street and made contact with 29-year-old Alexa Garcia. After further investigation, K9 Kaizen was deployed for a sniff of the vehicle and detected the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, where Officers found suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Garcia was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail for Possessional of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Interference LEO.

And around 10 p.m. Monday night, 19-year-old Juan Real-Vasquez was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail for Drag Racing and No Proof of Insurance following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of N. 10th Street after he was reportedly drag racing in the area.
