Two vehicle accident in rural Seward County Tuesday

Seward County, Kan.–A two-vehicle accident just after 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon involved three individuals.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 27-year-old David Klassen of Kismet was traveling southbound on Road O, when he failed to yield to an oncoming 2024 Kia Carnival driven by 30-year-old Hetvi S. Bhakta of Marion. Bhakta was traveling on US Highway 54 when she struck the passenger side of the bed of the Klassen vehicle. Klassen’s vehicle came to rest facing northwest in the south ditch, while the Bhakta vehicle facing northeast, and was partially in the south ditch.

Bhakta and passenger 59-year-old Sudhirbhai P. Bhakta, of Artesia, New Mexico, were taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal for suspected serious injuries. Klassen sustained suspected minor injuries.

The KHP report stated that all three involved were wearing seatbelts.
