Alta Jeannine Schmidt passed away November 3, 2013 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. Her family was by her side as she went to meet her heavenly father. Jeannine or Jennie as she was called by all that knew her was born June 15, 1929 in Scott City, Kansas, to Elmer and Alta Mitchell Clinton. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend, Kansas.

On December 9, 1948 she married Gordon Schmidt at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend, Kansas. He passed away on September 5, 2012 in Scott City, Kansas.

She leaves behind her children, Gary and wife Sandy of Scott City; daughters, Berneice and husband Jim Burch of Spearman, Tx; Carol of Scott City and Marilyn Schmidt and companion Rick Wright of Scott City. Grandson Daniel and wife Kim Schmidt of Blue Rapids, Kansas, and Granddaughter Tiffany Schmidt of Scott City. Three Great Grandchildren, Callie, Spencer and Lexi Schmidt of Blue Rapids, Ks who were Gammy‘s Pride and Joy. A Brother Ward Clinton of Scott City and sister Norma Lee Moore of Burlington, Colorado, as well as niece Marsha McConnell whom helped care for Jeannine while in her home in Scott City for the last two winters along with other numerous nieces and nephews Jeannine enjoyed quilting throughout her life of which she made numerous quilts that were all done by hand. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. She was an EMT for several years in Scott County and a nurse‘s aid at the hospital in Scott City. She was a life time member of the VFW Lady Auxiliary. She was an original member of the Happy Go Lucky club. Jeannie never lived outside of Scott County. But she and Gordon spent several winters in Apache Junction, AZ. They lived on the farm west of Shallow Water for fifty years until they moved to Scott City in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, her parents and her brother Jimmy, and sisters, Cora, Lora, Dorthy, Madge, Francis, & Waneta.

Funeral Services Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Friend, Kansas, 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, Officiant Rev. Jon Tuttle & Rev. Don Williams.

Interment Prairie View Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Friend, Kansas.

Visitation 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
