KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Fans of Major League Baseball are going through two days of withdrawal following the National league’s 8-0 blowout in last night’s All Star Game. It was a midsummer classic that was anything but. Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval delivered a bases-loaded triple off Cy Young winner Justin Verlander of the Tigers during a five-run first inning and the senior circuit never looked back. San Francisco’s Melky Cabrera contributed a two-run homer in a three-run fourth inning to pretty much seal the deal. He was named game MVP. And teammate Matt Cain was the winning pitcher with two shutout innings. The most lopsided National League victory in All-Star history, and third largest of all time, gives the NL champion home field advantage in the World Series. The season doesn’t pick back up until Friday.
