(AP)–Suspended NASCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger says his second urine sample will be tested next week.
Allmendinger has elected to bring his own experts to the testing of his “B” sample, which will take place July 24 at a lab in Nashville, Tenn. He was suspended July 7, hours before a race at Daytona, for failing a random drug test taken June 29.
The substance has not been identified by NASCAR or Allmendinger, though he has said it was a stimulant. He has denied knowingly taking a banned substance.
NASCAR allows drivers to bring their own experts for the second test and Allmendinger wants his own toxicologist and attorney present.
The 30-year-old Allmendinger is the second Sprint Cup Series driver to be suspended under the NASCAR drug policy implemented in 2009.
