Drought conditions improve in latest monitor

Drought conditions continue their improvement across the state of Kansas, according to data released on Thursday.

The map shoes that all of northeast and eastern Kansas in a drought free status.

In southwest Kansas, a good portion of Meade County is in the Extreme Drought category, while a majority of the region is in a Severe Drought, despite good rainfall earlier in the week. The rest of southwest Kansas is in a Moderate Drought.

There are chances of rain with cooler temperatures forecast later in the weekend, but temperatures are predicted to reach close to 100 degrees by the middle of next week.
