Finney County Commissioners to consider Special Use Permit requests for Sherlock Solar & Sherlock Energy Storage projects
The Finney County Board of County Commissioners will consider Special Use Permit requests for the proposed Sherlock Solar and Sherlock Energy Storage projects at the June 1, 2026, meeting. The meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Finney County Administration Building, located at 311 North 9th Street, Garden City, Kansas.
If approved, the projects would include a 400 MW solar energy system and a 400 MW battery energy storage system, both located in Finney County and reviewed under the County’s Special Use Permit process.
This is one step in a broader review process. A Special Use Permit does not authorize construction. Final terms and conditions are included in the June 1st agenda packet, and compliance with those terms will be required. If terms and conditions are not met, the permit may be revoked.
The public is encouraged to review agenda materials, attend the meeting, and provide input during the public comment period. Applications and supporting materials are available on our website at https://www.finneycounty.org/889/Submitted-SUP-Applications. Complete memos, full terms and conditions, and supporting documents for each SUP can be found on the meeting agenda at https://www.finneycounty.org/54/Agendas-Minutes. The meeting will be livestreamed on Finney County’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
