Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City (8-7) Women’s Basketball Team finished off their non-conference schedule with a 70-57 win over Otero (10-6) avenging an earlier 71-70 loss to the Lady Rattlers in November. In a contest that saw eight leads changes and two ties in the first half, it took a 13-0 run almost midway through the second half for Garden City to get the upper hand 52-39. Jasmine Christmas started the spurt by hitting back to back buckets and the Broncbusters held Otero scoreless over nearly a six minute span.

The Broncbusters forced 31 turnovers in the game while only committing 14 themselves. Sophomore Sandra Davis led all Broncbusters with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Shauqunna Collins chipped in with 15. Otero was led by Danica Shipley who finished with a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds. Shipley averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds in her two game against Garden City this season.

GCCC have won eight of their last eleven and are getting hot at the right time. Garden City begins Jayhawk West play Saturday afternoon at home against seventh ranked Seward County.
