No Gun Signs Removed to Follow New State Law

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) There is a new requirement that went into effect Wednesday for cities and counties in Kansas.  Garden City Manager Matt Allen explains.

One place the signs will remain is at the joint law enforcement center Garden City shares with Finney County.

The signs could have remained in front of all city buildings, but at what expense?  Allen says for the city administrative building alone it would have cost anywhere from $150,000-to-$350,000 a year.  Allen says many communities in Southwest Kansas have made the same decision of moving their no gun signs because of the cost associated with beefing up security.
