Progress Does Not Come Without a Price

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Preserving an important piece of history versus making needed road improvements. That is the battle shaping up in Dodge City as K-DOT looks to eventually expand US 50 which means taking away part of the point of rocks west of town. Kirk Hutchinson of  K-DOT says there’s no give to the 69 million dollars allocated for this project.

Most importantly regardless of what is decided, nothing will be done to the steel Cowboy sculpture welcoming visitors into town.

A meeting is scheduled for December 17th between K-DOT officials and those interested in preserving Point of Rocks.
