Rockies blow early lead, fall to Pittsburgh in series finale

Denver, Col. (westernkasnasnews.com)–Colorado built up a 5-1 lead on Pittsburgh in the series finale Wednesday afternoon, only to see it vanish in a hurry. A five-run third inning would give the Pirates the lead and the series win by the count of 9-6. Dexter Fowler hit a solo home run and Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run blast in the first inning for the Rockies. Starter Jeremy Guthrie didn’t make it out of the third inning, as he gave up Reliever Matt Reynolds took the loss for Colorado. The Rockies have Thursday off before beginning a weekend series at San Diego beginning Friday night.
