At Monday night’s USD 466 Scott County Board of Education meeting, a supplemental contract offer was approved for Lori Murphy to be the next girls basketball coach at Scott City for the 2012-13 school year. Murphy previously served as the head coach at Northeast High School in Arma for the past two years, compiling a record of 14-28. Northeast is a school in the Three Rivers League in  southeast Kansas that bounces between Classes 2A and 3A on an annual basis. Prior to her head coaching job at Northeast, she spent the previous three years as an assistant at Frontenac while attending Pittsburg State University. The 2010 Frontenac team qualified for the Class 3A State Tournament, but fell in the first round. Murphy graduated from Girard High School in 2006, where she was a point guard for the Lady Trojans. In addition to her head coaching duties,  a contract offer was approved for the Scott City Middle School Physical Education position.

Murphy replaces Mark Campos, who resigned after three years as the Lady Beavers head coach at the end of the season.
