Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–For the second time in the last three years, the Scott City Beavers will hit the road for a Sectional playoff game in Conway Springs to face the Cardinals.

Last week, Scott City had to hold off a feisty Phillipsburg Panther team in a 24-21 road victory in the Regional round and improved to 10-1 on the season. The Beavers were either tied or led throughout the game, including a 16-7 halftime lead. Trey O’Neil had two touchdowns passes, a 21-yard pass to Chris Pounds and a 36-yard toss to Brayden Strine. The Beavers outgained Philliipsburg 394-295, and had the edge in the passing game by a 183-30 margin.

Conway Springs is 11-0 after a 34-23 road win at Kingman last Saturday night. The Cardinals run the single win, and average 365 of their 427 yards of offense on the ground every game. Dakota Finstad and Travis Wood lead the Cardinal rushing attack, as they each have over 1,000 yards on the season.

Both teams give up an average of 10 points a game.

Conway Springs leads the series 2-0, including a 39-21 victory over Scott City in 2011. This is a matchup of the last two state champions.

Kickoff from T.K. Shinn Field is at 4 pm, with a 3:30 kickoff on Mix 94 and online at https://www.westernkansasnews.com/mix94/.
