State Takes Aim at Improving Rural Housing

0

Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It’s time to take action. Governor Sam Brownback and other leaders want to focus more on moderate income housing for rural areas during the legislative session that begins next week. Fred Bentley with the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation points to a state program already meeting this need head on.

But just like anything else in government the program needs more money.

Bentley believes ultimately cities can address the problem by taking up the burden of improving infrastructure needs.

Bentley says there are two ways to pay for this, issuing additional bonds or increased tax revenue from developing these properties.
