Structure fire in Garden City Thursday evening

Garden City, KS–Just after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the Garden City Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1700 E. US Highway 50, Garden City Township, Finney County, Kansas.

Initial reports indicated smoke coming from the rear of the property with no visible flames. When they arrived, responding crews observed heavy smoke coming from the structure and began firefighting operations. Firefighters quickly located the fire in the southeast portion of the building, and additional apparatus and water tenders were requested to support suppression efforts.

Investigator LT Becker responded to the scene for investigation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported, and damage estimates are not known at this time.
