Red Demon baseball swept by Hays

Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City High School baseball was handled by Hays Tuesday falling 20-1 in three innings and 12-2 in five innings.

Game one

With the wind swirling at Demon Field nothing went right for the Red Demons after the first inning. Dodge City scored in the bottom of the first on a Noah Sowers RBI Single to go up 1-0. Hays jumped all over Dodge City(3-3, 0-2) scoring 10 runs in the second and 10 more in the third inning.

Eight of the nine hitters in the order drove in at least one run for Hays(4-0, 2-0), with seven driving in two runs or more. Palmer Hutchison and Tradgon McCrae both led the way with 3 RBI each. Cole Murphy(1-0) gave up just two hits and one run in his first start of the season. Noah Sowers(1-1) pitched just 1.2 innings giving up ten runs on 12 hits.

Game two

Hays jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never really looked back. The Indians went up 6-0 after adding two runs in the second and one run in the third inning. The Red Demons showed some fight in the bottom of the third, Adrian Medoza got an RBI fielders choice and Sowers had an RBI single to cut the deficit to 6-2. From there Hays would score two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to put it away.

Trey Riggs(2-0) pitched five innings giving up just three hits and two runs. At the plate Riggs, Murphy and Brock Lummus all had 2 RBI for the Indians. Roman Rodriguez(0-2) got the loss for the Red Demons.

Dodge City is back in action Thursday at Hays TMP at 4 p.m.
