Garden City answered in the third inning with a surge of power. Togher delivered a two-run double before Evans followed with a two-run home run. Wilson added a solo shot later in the frame, cutting the deficit to 5-4.

The game remained within reach until the eighth inning, when Seward County broke it open. The Saints strung together five hits and took advantage of traffic on the bases to score five runs, pushing the lead to 13-5.
Garden City mounted one final push in the ninth as Togher launched a two-run home run, but the rally was not enough to overcome the deficit.
