Garden City Community College officially introduced Jamie Fisher as the next head coach of the Broncbuster women’s basketball program Monday afternoon during a press conference inside the Hall of Fame Room.

Fisher enters his 19th season in college coaching and his 12th season as a head coach. He owns a career record of 194-128, a .603 winning percentage, and has led three different NJCAA programs to the NJCAA National Tournament.

“Jamie Fisher brings exactly what we were looking for in the next leader of our women’s basketball program,” Director of Athletics Mike Pilosof said. “He has won at a high level, he has recruited and developed student-athletes, and he has consistently helped young women move on to four-year programs. Just as important, he understands the academic piece and the responsibility that comes with leading a program the right way.”

Across 11 seasons as a head coach, Fisher has produced a 94% graduation rate and helped more than 50 student-athletes continue their careers at four-year institutions.

“Jamie’s track record speaks for itself,” GCCC President Dr. Ryan Ruda said. “He has built successful programs, but he has also shown a strong commitment to student success. That alignment with our mission is important, and we are excited to welcome Jamie, Lynette and Liam to Garden City.”

Fisher most recently served as head coach at Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, Florida, where he went 44-18 over two seasons. During his time with the Buccaneers, Fisher produced a 100% graduation rate, coached one NJCAA All-American, nine Citrus All-Conference selections and the 2025 Citrus Conference Player of the Year.

In 2024-25, Florida Southwestern finished 25-6, won the Citrus Conference Championship with a school-record 17 conference victories, advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament Sweet 16, and Fisher was named the 2025 Citrus Conference Coach of the Year. The Buccaneers followed with a 19-12 finish and a Citrus Conference runner-up showing in 2025-26.

“Coach Fisher understands what it takes to compete in junior college athletics,” Vice President of Student Services and Athletics Colin Lamb said. “His experience, his focus on student-athlete development, and his ability to build relationships stood out throughout this process. We believe he is a tremendous fit for Garden City Community College.”

Before his time at Florida Southwestern, Fisher spent 12 seasons at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, including nine as head coach. He compiled a 150-110 record with the Cowgirls and coached two NJCAA All-Americans, 24 all-conference selections and one Region 2 Player of the Year.

Fisher was a two-time Region 2 Coach of the Year and also earned South Central District Coach of the Year honors. His most successful season at Connors State came in 2023-24, when the Cowgirls went 29-5, won the OCAC Championship by five games, captured the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament title and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in 15 years.

Fisher began his coaching career as an assistant at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. During his time there, the staff won the 2009 NJCAA Region 5 Championship and advanced to the 2009 NJCAA National Tournament.

A native of Owasso, Oklahoma, Fisher and his wife, Lynette, have one son, Liam McGuire.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead the Garden City women’s basketball program,” Fisher said. “This is a place with great people, strong support and a real commitment to helping student-athletes succeed. I am excited to get to work, build relationships on campus and in the community, and help move this program forward.”
