Class 3A: Holcomb boys repeat as champions, Lakin runner up, Scott City 4th; Lakin girls 5th, Scott City 9th

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Several area athletes would break meet records over the two days at the KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships in Wichita.

Starting with the boys, Holcomb would repeat as state champions, as their 4x800M Relay team shattered their own meet record from a year ago, and Brody Deniston would lead the Longhorns in the 800M run, as they had three of the top four placings. Lakin picked up a runner-up finish as a team, as Colter Oldham would repeat as the winner in the discus and shot put, as he would break the meet record in the shot put. Scott City placed fourth overall, highlighted by their 4x400M Relay, breaking the meet record set by Scott City in 2019. Cimarron would place 35th overall. Wichita Collegiate placed third, as the area got three of the top four teams in Class 3A.

For the girls, Lakin would place fifth overall, led by Aryn Michaelis, who won the Triple Jump. Scott City placed ninth, led by their second place finish in the 4x800M Relay, and Holcomb was 26th, as Madyson Schreibvogel would finish as a four-time medalist in the 400M Dash, placing second. Southwestern Heights tied for 32nd, as Layla Kisner was a fourth place finisher in the 300M Low Hurdles. Beloit would win the team title, while Hessotn was second and Wellsville was third.
