Class 2A: Syracuse’s Lewis Pole Vault champion; Wichita County boys score high in throwing events

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The KSHSAA State Track & Field championship on Friday and Saturday saw over 40 meet records broken. For the area, there were several good marks to get up on the awards stand.

On the boys side, Sublette finished 12th, led by Caleb Friesen wiht a second place finish in the 110M High Hurdles. Wichita County was 20th, as they got a third place throw in the Javelin from Beau Porter, and Juan Tapia was fourth in the Shot Put. Stanton County tied for 34th, as their 4x400M Relay team placed fourth. Central Heights took the team title, while Moundridge was second and Medicine Lodge was third.

For the girls, Stanton County was 17th, led by Hannah Canny’s third place finish in the 400M Dash, and Syracuse was 23rd, as Bronwyn Lewis was the champion in the Pole Vault. Hoxie won the state title, while Smith Center and Wabaunsee tied for second.
