Class 1A: South Gray girls 4th; Spearville boys tie for 10th

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a good weekend for our area schools for Class 1A at the State Track & Field championships in Wichita.

Starting with the boys, Spearville would tie for 10th, as Ian Melendez was second in the Long Jump, Bucklin tied for 16th, with Lucas Kirk was second in both hurdle races, Hodgeman County and Ingalls were 18th. Rj Allen was a champion in the 400M Dash, Meade tied for 24th, Elkhart tied for 27th, Dighton 35th, Satanta tied for 37th and South Gray tied for 48th. Axtell dominated 1A and repeated as state champs, while Kiowa County was second and Quinter placed third.

For the girls, South Gray was sixth, led by Kyndal Stapleton, who closed out her career with her third straight 800M Run title, and broke the meet record. Hodgeman County was 12th, as Kalyn Washburn was second in the javelin, and Blake Dansel was second in the Shot Put. Bucklin finished in 21st, Ashland 22nd, Dighton tied for 24th, Greeley County tied for 26th, Satanta and Spearville tied for 30th and Kinsley tied for 45th.
