Liberal man dies in early morning accident

Seward County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Liberal man was killed just after 6 a.m. Monday morning on U.S. Highway 54, about a tenth of a mile east of County Road 9 in Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 2017 Chevy Silverado driven by 26-year-old Aaron Bradley Patton of Liberal was traveling east on U.S. Highway 54, when he crossed over the fog line onto the eastbound shoulder and collided wiht an unknown stopped vehichle. The stopped vehicle left the scene of the accident prior to notification of the collision to law enforcement and has yet to be identified.

Patton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The KHP report stated that Patton was not wearing a seatbelt.
