Area athletes to play in Kansas 8-Man All Star Game on Saturday in Beloit
Several southwest Kansas athletes will be competing in the annual Kansas 8-Man All Star Game on Saturday at Trojan Field in Beloit.
The 8-Man Division II game will play kickoff at 10 am, followed by the Division I game at 1:30 pm.
Area athletes on the West squad for the 8-Man Division II team include Kolson Cook and Lucas Kirk of Bucklin, Ryland Price and George von Leonrod of Dighton, Dawson Ruff and Hazen Rydquist from Hodgeman County, and Jesse Smith of Minneola. Bucklin’s Trevor Powell will serve as the West Head Coach. The West will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak, as they fell to the East 50-12 last year. They last won in 2022 42-34.
For the Division 1 West team, area athletes include Zac Hendrickson and Alex Holguin from Meade, Damien Loewen of South Gray, Kris Hermisillo, Juan Tapia and Max Witham from Wichita County, and Kinsley’s Zach Kraft. Just like the Division II squad, the Division I team will look to snap a two-game skid, as they fell to the East 58-6 last year. Their last win in the series came in 2022, when they won 24-20.
It will be the final game on grass at Trojan Field, as they will install a turf field and redo the track as part of a nearly $3 million project.
