Liberal, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – The Dodge City Conquistador Baseball team moved to the .500 mark on Sunday with a split decision in Conference play. Dodge City opened up the four game series with a pair of losses on Saturday, losing 4-2 and 8-2 to the Seward County Saints, as the Conqs could not get the bats going and produce any offense from a couple of solid pitching performances by the Saints. Sunday was a different story both on offense and defense by Dodge City, as it turned out to be a stellar defensive performance in game three for the Conqs in their 2-0 win over the Saints in 8 innings, with Sam Brunner collecting the win in relief, only giving up on two hits over the last one and two thirds innings and the Conqs would score two runs in the top of the 8th and hang on for the victory. Dodge City jumped on the Saints early in the night-cap game scoring 5 runs in first two innings and then added one more run in the 7th to hold off the rally by the Saints and Dodge City would take game four 6-4. The split with the Saints moved the Conqistadors to 6-6 in the Jayhawk West and 15-11 on the season, the Saints are 7-5 in the West and 13-16 overall.
