Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–While tonight’s games between Scott City and Goodland will not affect the sub-state seeding scheduled for tomorrow, tonight’s doubleheader will be the last time the Beavers will take the court at home, and will be the final time the seniors play at Scott Community High School. The GWAC doubleheader pits two teams facing off for th second time in the last three weeks.

Scott City’s girls are looking to snap a 10-game losing streak overall, and come into the game with a 2-17 record overall, and 0-9 in league play after a 50-30 loss to Colby on Friday night. The Lady Beavers started out their game with a 6-0 lead against the Lady Eagles, but Colby slowed Scott City and took control of the game, despite a 16-point performance from Bailey Nickel. Goodland has dropped two straight, after a 41-39 loss to Hugoton at home on Friday night. The Cowgirls enter tonight’s game with an 12-7 record overall, and 4-5 in Great West Activities Conference play. Leading the balanced Goodland team so far is Kate-Lynn King with 9.5 points a game. In the first meeting two weeks ago, the Cowgirls doubled up Scott City 66-33.

Tonight’s second game will bring in quite a bit of hype, after Goodland stunned Scott City 46-42 in Goodland two weeks ago, winning over the Beavers for the first time since 2004. The Beavers enter tonight’s game with a 16-3 record overall, and a 7-2 mark in league play, following their 61-26 thumping of Colby Friday night. Scott City got a career-best 21 points from Brett Meyer, and eight assists from Trey O’Neil. Goodland saw their four-game win streak snapped at home Friday night against Hugoton in a 63-51 setback. The Cowboys have an 8-11 overall record and are 5-4 in the GWAC. Goodland shot just 29% in their loss to the Eagles, which was their third ballgame of the week.

Tipoff is slated for 6:30 for the girls with the boys to follow. Senior night ceremonies will also take place tonight. Pregame coverage on Mix 94 begins at 6 pm from Scott Community High School.
