Goodland wins home regional golf title, area golfers qualify for state

Goodland, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a windy Monday at Sugar Hills Golf Course in Goodland, as they played host to the Class 3A Regional golf tournament.

The host school Cowboys would dominate the regional, winning by 43 shots over runner-up Norton. Scott City placed third. The top two teams qualify for state, to go along with the top five golfers who are not on a qualifying team.

Individually, Goodland’s Barrett Schlosser would win the meet, shooting a round of 79. Lakin’s Noah Richter qualified for state, placing fifth. Also qualifying from the area were Holcomb’s Luke Thyne and Scott City’s Jackson Rumford.

The Class 3A State Golf tournament will take place Tuesday & Wednesday, May 27-28 at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City.
