Holcomb Wins Bi-District Over Hoisington Advances to Regionals at #4Beloit-Audio
Holcomb, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – For the first time in more that ten years the Holcomb Longhorns won their first round of the KSHSAA Football play-offs, with a convincing 28-7 victory over Hoisington in Bi-District action last night at Longhorn Stadium. It was the Tyler LaSalle show in the first half as the Longhorns rushed the football effectively and LaSalle scored three different times with runs of 12, 1 and 26 yards, freshmen kicker Juan Guerrero added the PAT’s and Holcomb owned a 21-0 halftime lead over the Cardinals. The Longhorn defense was stifling limiting the Cardinals to only 20 plays and limited yards in the first half and the offensive line was stellar. In the 2nd half the Cardinals struggled again to move the ball effectively, plus turnover and the Longhorns took advantage of the miscues and scored another touchdown on a LaSalle 2 yard run late in the 3rd quarter to make it 28-0. Hoisington did get a touchdown late in the third on a Hagen Hanzlick 9 yard touchdown run, the kick was good and the Horns led 28-7. The Longhorns controlled the clock in the 4th quarter a picked up the Bi-District victory. Holcomb Head Coach Jerry Johnson comments on his teams play and the great play-off victory in the post game wrap up.
