Joyce Aranda Named Principal of Florence Wilson Elementary
Garden City Public Schools is proud to announce that Joyce Aranda was officially approved by the Board of Education at the Monday, April 13th, meeting as the next principal of Florence Wilson Elementary.
Aranda brings extensive leadership experience to the role, including previous service as a head elementary principal in the Wichita Catholic Diocese. Her background in instructional leadership, school culture, and family engagement has made her a respected educational leader, and her recent work within Garden City Public Schools has quickly reinforced that reputation. Since joining the district, she has served in elementary leadership roles supporting Abe Hubert and Alta Brown, where she has helped strengthen teaching and learning systems, support staff growth, and build strong relationships with students and families.
Her combination of proven principal experience, strong instructional knowledge, and relational leadership makes her an excellent fit to lead Florence Wilson into its next chapter.
“I am truly honored for the opportunity to serve the Florence Wilson community as principal,” Aranda said. “Florence Wilson is a special place with a strong culture, caring staff, and families who are deeply invested in their children’s success. I am excited to build on the excellent work already happening in the building and continue creating an environment where every student feels known, supported, and challenged to grow.”
Josh Guymon, Superintendent of Garden City Public Schools, said Aranda’s experience and leadership presence made her a standout choice throughout the process.
“Joyce brings the complete package of leadership experience, instructional knowledge, and relationship-building skills,” Guymon said. “Her experience leading an elementary school in the Wichita Catholic Diocese, combined with the work she has already done in Garden City Public Schools, gives her the ability to step in immediately and continue the strong momentum at Florence Wilson. She understands how to support teachers, build trust with families, and keep the focus on student growth.”
Guymon also shared appreciation for Jill Reagle and the leadership she provided to Florence Wilson.
“We are deeply grateful to Jill Reagle for her dedication and leadership at Florence Wilson,” Guymon said. “She helped create a strong culture centered on relationships, learning, and high expectations for students. Because of her work, Joyce is stepping into a building with great momentum and a bright future.”
She will be the principal at the school starting the 2026-2027 school year.
