Man arrested after aggrevated assault and threat with firearm

Garden City, Kan.–According to a release from the Garden City Police Department, collaborative efforts between the Garden City Police Department and Finney County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a man Friday night after he assaulted a teenager and threatened others with a firearm.
Around 10:45 p.m. Friday night, Officers responded to the Finney County Fairgrounds for an aggravated assault after learning a man was reportedly threatening multiple teenagers with a firearm. As they arrived, Officers observed a Ford Ranger fleeing the fairgrounds into the Arkansas River. Officers coordinated with Deputies the location of the vehicle, and it was stopped, where law enforcement met with two occupants as well as a group of teenagers in the fairgrounds parking lot to conduct their investigation.
The investigation revealed that the passenger in the Ford Ranger, identified as Fabian Richters-Laurelez, 21, assaulted a teenager and made threats of shooting the group, leading them to flee into Peebles Complex and call 911. Richters-Laurelez was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail for Criminal Threat, Endangering of a Child, Battery, and a municipal warrant. There were no injuries from the incident.
