Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The state senate took a step Thursday voting to repeal a mortgage registration fee phasing it out over the next five years.  Counties are concerned about the hit to their treasuries if this cut is enacted.  State Representative Bud Estes says repealing this tax would be made up in other ways to soften the blow.

There is some concern that to make up for anticipated loses of up to 400-thousand dollars for some Western Kansas counties that eventually property taxes would have to rise.
