Scott City Boys, Cimarron Girls take home team titles in 88th Scott City Relays

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a nearly picture perfect day Tuesday afternoon at Darner Field, as 14 schools comprised of the 88th Annual Scott City Relays. Temperatures reached the upper 70’s with a breeze from the north, as there were some good times on the track, and good results from the field events.

Scott City boys won their first team title since 2021, dethroning three-time champion Lakin. The Beavers would put up a season-high 136 points. Scott City would have a big day on the track, as Camden Vulgamore would win the 400M Dash that was a part of a Scott City sweep of the top three, and he was a part of the 4×400 and 4×800-meter relays that won. The Broncs had good individual results, as Austin Ritsema would take the 800 and 3200-meter runs, as well as the high jump, while Ross Rider won the long jump and triple jump and Colter Oldham took the shot put and discus events. Gaige McGaughey of Ulysses was the 200M champion and was a part of the winning 4x100M relay.

Cimarron would rally late to take the girls team title, edging Colby and Lakin. The Bluejays were led by Jane Fugitt, who won the 1600M run, and was second in the 800M run. Taegan Eskam took the 300M low hurdle race. Lakin saw Aryn Michaelis take the high jump and triple jump, while Alyssa Edgington was the winner of the pole vault and long jump. Kinleigh Wren had a big day for the Lady Beavers, winning the 400M dash, and was a part of the winning 4×400 and 4×800-meter relays. Ulysses girls broke their school record in the 4x100M relay.
