Three die in Kiowa County crash

Kiowa County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Three people die as a result of a vehicle accident just after 3:30 pm on Wednesday, nine miles west of Greensburg on U.S. Highway 54.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Ford F150 driven by 68-year-old Teresa Christine Davis of Meade, was westbound in the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 54, when an eastbound 2026 Freightliner semi driven by 22-year-old Dishant Kukreja of Sunnyvale, California, traveled left of center to avoid the pickup. The pickup reentered the westbound lane and struck the semi.

Davis and passengers, 13-year-old Travis Welch and 10-year-old Hunter Welch of Meade were pronounced dead at the scene. Kukreja was uninjured.

All four were wearing seatbelts, according to the KHP.
