Satanta man dies in Sunday morning crash

Gray County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Satanta man died as the result of a single-vehicle accident just before 6 a.m. Sunday morning in Gray County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by 22-year-old Edgar Adolfo Rios-Meraz of Satanta was traveling eastbound on Kansas Highway 144 four miles east of Copeland at the intersecton on Kansas Highway 144 and U.S. Highway 56, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, and struck a KDOT post, crossed U.S. Highway 56, entered the south ditch and rolled one time ejecting Rios-Meraz and passenger, 18-year-old Yensin Mabel Servin-Shavez.
Rios-Meraz was pronounced dead at the scene, whie Servin-Shavez was taken to Wesley Trauma Center for her injuries.
The KHP did not report a hometown for Servin-Shavez, and the report stated that both involved in the accident were not wearing seatbelts.
