Scott City’s Rodriguez signs to wrestle at Newman

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Alex Rodriguez always knew he wanted to compete at the collegiate level.
On Thursday, Rodriguez made it offical by signing his letter of intent to wrestle at NCAA Division II Newman University in Wichita.
Rodriguez has competed for the Scott City Beavers at 138 pounds all four years of high school, with a handful of matches up a weight class. So far this year, he is 18-6, coming off a third place finish at the Scott City Wrestling Classic over the weekend to go along with a Ron Smith Invitational wrestling title and a pair of second place finishes. Over his career, he has qualified for state once, and is closing in on 100 career victories.
At Newman, Rodriguez will major in Business Management with a minor in Mathematics, getting him closer to his goal of becoming an appraiser.
